on Mission Bay. Yesterday my daughter was in the All Girl Sail Jam out of the Mission Bay Yacht Club. It was a great summer day on the water. My sister and brother in law and I were the race committee along with others and had just a perfect day. Skylar and her skipper Carolyn, had not sailed since last summer and ended up second place finishers. In all , there were 39 boats out for the regatta, with around 50 "sailor girls." It definitely was a SUMMER EVENT!
and I went up to the Long Beach Flea Market . We absolutely walked our legs off and came home with some very fun treasures. My favorite is this ol' vintage wheelbarrow. It is so fun to have outside of my potting shed, I wish I had remembered how old the gal told me it was. All I know is we are so lucky to have real wheels on our wheelbarrows these days, opposed to a metal one! I have always wanted one in my garden and now...voila' it is here!
are what will keep my heart close to him on this Fathers Day. It will be two months this Monday that he went to join my mom in heaven and it is still hard to believe that he is not here with us. I am thankful for all the good times he gave us and the love that was always there. Happy Fathers Day Dad, you are loved and missed each and every day!
I am so inspired by Pam Garrisons art of journaling that I thought I might try and create something of my own. After a visit to Papertales and visiting with those sweet women, I came home to create. Here are a few pictures of what I have finished so far...totally not anything like Pams beautiful work, but it is fun to just get immersed into something without any directions or rules.
all morning and part of the afternoon digging, pulling, clipping, weeding...in my garden. Oh today I feel old and crumbly! It is a nice old feeling tho', especially when I look at what I accomplished and how fresh each garden looks. Now I just need to take a little trip to the garden center and pick out some new herbs and flowers. I love to garden, even if I hurt...it is so peaceful and sweet smelling.
my aunt and uncle from Canada are leaving this morning. It is a sad but sweet goodbye as we will be visiting them in the month of July. We had a lot of fun while they were here...including the celebration of my aunts 70th birthday! She is a very young 70!!!! We surprised her with a party at the Yacht Club and then a dinner at my house last night. We also took her out to lunch yesterday, which was her real birthday and just had a lot of laughs and memorable moments. She is a person whom finds humor in the simplest of things (just like our mom did). It has been a few years since I have traveled to her house and I am looking forward to being with her again. Cheers Auntie! You're the best!
